The Kaduna State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Kaduna, today, declared the March 18 governorship election in the State as inconclusive.

The Independent National electoral commission, INEC had earlier declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Uba Sani, as the winner of the election.

But, dissatisfied with the outcome, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Hon. Isah Mohammed Ashiru, challenged the declaration of Senator Sani before the Tribunal and urged it to declare Ashiru as the winner of the election instead.

However, ruling on the petition virtually, the three-man panel of Justices led by Justice Victor Oviawe, ordered a rerun in 24 polling units in seven wards of four local government areas of the State consisting of 16,300 registered voters.

The PDP had headed to the tribunal to challenge the election of Uba Sani as the sitting Governor of Kaduna State.

The PDP had banked its arguments on the grounds of alleged irregularities and electoral fraud, deposing that its candidate, won the election.

The tribunal ruled further that INEC is to conduct elections in seven wards, four local governments and 24 polling units consisting of 16,300 registered voters.

During the hearing of the petition, the PDP and Ashiru called 24 witnesses and presented claims and documents to prove their case
