The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has reduced by half the tuition fees for the state-owned tertiary institutions.
The development was confirmed in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata.
VOP News gathered however, that only indigenes of the state would benefit from the tuition fee reduction.
According to Kofar Mata, the action was taken to alleviate the compounding financial hardships for the good people of the state.
He noted that the resolution was reached during the meeting with the heads of tertiary institutions, the visitor and the state’s governor today in the State Capital.
In his congratulatory message to the students, parents, and the people of Kano on the development, the Commissioner hoped that the beneficiaries and entire people of the state would lend their unflinching support and cooperation to the present administration in its frantic determination to bring overall progress and development of our dear state.
