Alhaji Nasiru Ahali, the Chairman of Mainasara & Sons Company and a pioneer industrialist, has passed away at the age of 108. He reportedly died at a hospital in Kano on Thursday, leaving behind a legacy deeply tied to the state’s economic foundation.
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, in a condolence message delivered by his media director, described Ahali’s death as a “colossal loss” not just to his family but to the entire state, nation, and Muslim community. He hailed the deceased as one of Kano’s industrial pioneers, whose efforts shaped both large and small-scale businesses.
Ahali’s funeral prayer is scheduled to take place at Nasiru Ahali Jummu’a Mosque, Kurnan Asabe, on Friday.
His passing raises questions about the future of Kano’s industrial sector, as many fear the decline of indigenous entrepreneurship in an era where multinational dominance and economic instability threaten local businesses.
