A member of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Hassan, who represented Dawakin-Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency, has died after a brief illness.
The death was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Muazzam Dawakin-Kudu, who expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the lawmaker.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Hon. Barr. M.D. Hassan,” the statement read.
According to the announcement, the late lawmaker will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 11, 2026, following funeral prayers at the National Mosque Abuja scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Until his death, Mr Hassan served as the representative for Dawakin-Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency and was known for his active participation in legislative activities at the National Assembly.
Colleagues described him as a committed lawmaker who contributed to parliamentary debates and constituency representation.
Tributes pour in
Condolences have continued to pour in from political associates, constituents, and stakeholders across the country, many of whom described his death as a significant loss to both Kano State and Nigeria.
Prayers were also offered for the forgiveness of his shortcomings and for Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
His passing creates a vacancy in the House of Representatives, setting the stage for a possible by-election to fill the Dawakin-Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency seat.
