KANO OBSERVES PUBLIC HOLIDAY TO MOURN DEAD ATHLETES

Residents in Kano State are today observing a public holiday to mourn with the families of the athletes who died while returning from the National Sports Festival.

The media aide to governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, Sanusi Tofa, on Sunday announced the directive in a statement.

Recall that 22 athletes on Saturday who represented Kano at the just-concluded National Sports Festival died after their team’s bus was involved in an accident.

Governor Yusuf, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for Hajj, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased athletes.

The Governor assured that all necessary efforts are being made to support the victims and their families.
