The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has directed intending pilgrims to pay a deposit of ₦8.5 million for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The Director-General of the board, Alhaji Lamin Danbappa, gave the directive during a meeting with members, management staff and local government Hajj registration officers in Kano.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi, the directive is in line with guidelines from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
“The payment will be made through bank drafts and submitted to local government Hajj registration officers,” Danbappa said.
He disclosed that Kano State had been allocated 5,684 seats for the 2026 pilgrimage, adding that the collection of deposits has commenced and will close on Oct. 5, 2025.
The DG urged intending pilgrims to make early payments and comply with registration requirements, which include eight passport-sized photographs and a valid international passport.
