The final was a rematch of the tournament’s opening match, where KEON FC initially bested Home Sample FC 2-1. Despite that loss, Home Sample FC rebounded impressively in subsequent matches to qualify for the finals and ultimately secured second place in the competition.
KEON FC received a cash prize of โฆ1,000,000, while Home Sample FC earned โฆ600,000 for their efforts. Future Hope FC, which finished in third place, went home with โฆ300,000.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the President General of the Urum Anike Development Union, Sir Felix Oranye, hailed the 2024/2025 tournament as the best edition to date. He applauded the participating teams for demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship and used the occasion to appeal to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to address the dilapidated road connecting Urum with neighboring communities, including Okpuno, Isuaniocha, Amanuke, and Ugbene.
The immediate past President General of Urum, Mr. Aloysius Tabansi, alongside the Chairman of the Urum Football Committee, Engineer Emmanuel Ojeani, and Urum Ward Councillor, Honourable Uchenna Nnonyelum, expressed gratitude to God for the restored peace in the community. They credited Governor Soludo for fostering this harmony and noted that the football tournament has further united the town.
The Chairman of KEON FC, Mr. Kodilichukwu Okeke, and the CEO of Home Sample FC, Mr. Christian Nwakeze, expressed pride in their teamsโ performances. They promised to intensify training to achieve even better results in future tournaments.
The tournament highlighted the role of sports in fostering unity and development in the community.
