The Adamawa State Police Command, in collaboration with local hunters, has rescued a 28-year-old man abducted by suspected kidnappers in Gurin, Fufore Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday in Yola.
He said the rescue was carried out on Monday during a joint operation in the mountainous area of Gombi, following credible intelligence on the kidnappers’ hideout.
“On sighting the team, the kidnappers opened fire, leading to a gun duel. Sensing the superior firepower of the operatives, the suspects fled, abandoning their victim, Isah Adamu, a resident of Gurin,” Nguroje said.
Recovered unhurt, the victim was later reunited with his family.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the operatives and hunters for their swift action, assuring residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
He directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command to take over the case for discreet investigation.
Morris reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely information.
