Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo has underscored the importance of adopting modern digital tools to promote transparency, improve accountability, and foster stronger collaboration in project execution.
Represented by his Deputy, Joel Salifu, Governor Ododo made this call during the opening ceremony of a capacity-building workshop held in Lokoja on Monday.
He emphasized that embracing digital innovations is crucial for the efficient management of public resources and ensuring that government projects deliver meaningful benefits to the people of Kogi.
โEvery government project must contribute meaningfully to the economic prosperity and sustainable development of the state and its citizens,โ Ododo stated. He warned that projects lacking clear value or impact would not be tolerated under his administration, which prioritizes value-driven and people-focused development.
The workshop, organised for Project Implementation Units (PIUs) managing World Bank-supported projects within Kogi, aimed to build the capacity of project officers to overcome common challenges and align with global best practices.
Governor Ododo stressed that participants must apply the knowledge gained to enhance efficiency and ensure the timely delivery of ongoing and future projects.
He also reaffirmed the administrationโs commitment to capacity-building as a key strategy for cultivating excellence in public service.
The governor commended the State Accountant General, Mrs. Habibat Onumoko, for her leadership as State Portfolio Focal Person and for coordinating projects effectively. He further acknowledged the consulting firm Trendtech for its professionalism and strategic partnership in facilitating the training.
Encouraging other officials to emulate this dedication, Ododo reiterated his governmentโs resolve to uphold accountability, ensure prudent resource use, and achieve lasting results for all residents of Kogi State.
