The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, in Abuja.

The meeting is believed to be part of ongoing consultations as Kwankwaso concludes discussions with the ADC leadership ahead of a possible defection to the opposition party.

Naija News understands that the former Kano State governor met Aregbesola at his Abuja residence before holding separate talks with ADC leaders from Kano State.

Confirming the meeting in a post on his official social media page, Kwankwaso described the visit as cordial.

“It was a pleasure to receive my dear friend, His Excellency Rauf Aregbesola, former Governor of Osun State and National Secretary of the ADC, this evening at my residence in Abuja,” he wrote.

The meeting comes days after Kwankwaso hosted several prominent political figures, including former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

He also revealed that Senator Seriake Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West Senatorial District, recently visited him in Kano as part of broader political consultations.

There have been indications that Kwankwaso may join the ADC and possibly align with Obi in a joint ticket, with speculation suggesting the former Kano governor could emerge as Obi’s running mate.
