Malam Umar Farouk, the National Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), has addressed a press conference at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, asserting that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is orchestrating the support of dissident factions to create turmoil within the LP. Farouk highlighted that the LP is fully aware of the ruling party’s concerted effort to sow confusion within its ranks, aiming to undermine its prospects in the upcoming Imo State Governorship Election.
During the conference, he clarified that the intention was to dispel any misconceptions stemming from the activities of expelled party members who defied the LP and have been spreading misinformation among the public regarding the party’s progress.
Farouk stated that in a bid to subdue the Labour Party’s influence, the ruling party has deployed various strategies to stifle the party.
He noted that Part of this strategy involves financially backing a rebellion among certain suspended former members of the party, including Lamidi Apapa and others
