The Labour Party in Lagos says it is worried by the Supreme Court judgment on the appeal filed by its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, against President Bola Tinubu’s electoral victory.
,The party’s chairman in Lagos, Dayo Ekong said this while addressing journalists on Tuesday evening after the Labour Party’s State Executive Council meeting.
Ms Ekong, however, said the party “will not be deterred.”
Expressing the party’s disappointment with the outcome of the court, Ms Ekong said the judiciary should always be the last hope of the masses.
She said the future of democracy would be more guaranteed if the judiciary could be truly independent and a cornerstone of justice.
Ms Ekong said Nigerians must work tirelessly to ensure that justice is not just a concept but a reality for every citizen.
While lamenting the current economic hardship in the country, Ms Ekong charged the government to put in place masses-friendly policies and programmes.
Speaking on some alleged impostors parading themselves as leaders of the party in Lagos, Ekong urged the party members and the public not to fall victim to their antics.
