Lewis Hamilton will be searching for his first victory of the 2023 F1 season at the British Grand Prix this weekend after securing two podium finishes in the last three races. The Mercedes star finished second to Red Bull ace Max Verstappen at the Spanish Grand Prix last month before backing that up with a third-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Hamilton endured a miserable afternoon at last weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix, however, and ultimately finished eighth after being slapped with a penalty hours after the race had come to an end
Hamilton is out of contract at the end of this year but is thought to be close to penning fresh terms, with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff insisting that all parties are not in agreement over the blockbuster star’s salary and length of the deal.
Meanwhile, Red Bull chief Helmut Marko has fired shots at Hamilton after the seven-time champion insisted that teams shouldn’t be allowed to start work on their cars for the following season until August 1 every year.
