The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of all 21 local government chairmanship seats and 239 councillorship positions in the recent local elections. According to KOSIEC Chairman, Mr. Mamman Nda-Eri, the election, which took place on Saturday, was peaceful, free, fair, and credible. Among the newly elected chairpersons is a woman who secured the chairmanship position in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area.
Nda-Eri noted that APC dominated the election, leaving no wins for the other 18 political parties that participated. The results were initially announced at various collation centers by Returning Officers and were later confirmed by the KOSIEC Chairman. He also expressed gratitude to the electoral officials, security agencies, observers, and journalists for their roles in ensuring the election’s success.
This complete sweep by the APC follows similar trends in other local government polls, including Kaduna and Nasarawa, where the APC had also performed strongly.
