A 27-year-old man, Aminu Abdulhamid, has been arraigned before a Kano Sharia Court for allegedly assaulting his wife, Maryam Bello, after she asked him to repay a loan she had given him.
Abdulhamid, a resident of Zango Quarters in Ungogo Local Government Area, is facing a charge of causing grievous hurt.
The Prosecution Counsel, Zahradeen Abubakar, told the court that the complainant reported the incident at the Fagge Police Station on April 24. According to the prosecution, an argument broke out around 5 p.m. over the unpaid loan, during which the defendant allegedly attacked his wife, leaving her with an injury to her right eye.
The offence, Abubakar said, violates Sections 158 and 165 of the Penal Code Law of Kano State.
When the charge was read in court, Abdulhamid pleaded guilty.
Presiding Judge, Malam Umar Lawal, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Goron Dutse Correctional Centre pending summary trial on June 30, 2025.
