Nigerian soldiers are pleased with the increase in their daily Ration Cash Allowance (RCA) from ₦1,500 to ₦3,000, announced by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede. The raise, effective from the end of March, aims to improve troop welfare.
Oluyede also addressed housing concerns, expanding the Nigerian Army Housing Scheme to provide affordable homes in multiple cities, with prices starting at ₦8 million. Additionally, he introduced a low-interest loan scheme at a 3% interest rate and cautioned soldiers to borrow only when necessary.
To further support personnel, the Army has begun distributing 100,000 uniform kits monthly, ensuring soldiers no longer need to buy their own. Oluyede reaffirmed his commitment to improving soldiers’ welfare and living conditions.
