May Day: Tinubu Hails Nigerian Workers as Pillars of the Economy

President Bola Tinubu, in a message marking May Day 2025, praised Nigerian workers for their unwavering commitment and vital role in the nation’s development. He described them as “the engine of our economy” and pledged to prioritize their welfare.

In his address, President Tinubu acknowledged the sacrifices and dedication of the Nigerian workforce, emphasizing that their efforts are the driving force behind the country’s growth. “You are the secret to our nation’s progress,” he said

The President assured workers that his administration is fully committed to improving their living and working conditions. He promised better support systems, fair wages, and policies that reflect the value workers bring to Nigeria’s economy.

Recognizing the challenges many workers face, Tinubu reiterated the government’s intention to pursue reforms aimed at creating a more equitable and supportive environment for labor across all sectors. The message comes amid growing calls from labor unions for a review of the minimum wage and improved social protections, as workers continue to grapple with inflation and economic hardship.
