Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) in Nigeria have announced another increase in meter prices, marking the second hike in just four months.
Effective from November 5, prices for single-phase meters have jumped from approximately N117,000 to as much as N149,800, depending on the distribution company.
This increase follows ongoing challenges in the power sector, where DisCos struggle to cover rising operational costs. The latest price hike is expected to affect consumers significantly as they seek to comply with new tariffs in an already strained energy sector.
The DisCos have defended the hike, citing inflationary pressures and the need to maintain infrastructure amidst rising demands for electricity.
