Enugu State played host to the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, and the Austrian Ambassador to Nigeria, Thomas Schlesinger, during a working visit that highlighted the state’s strides in fostering a business-friendly environment for investors.

The minister praised Enugu’s ongoing transformation into an investment and development hub, affirming the state’s trajectory as a model for growth. The visit included inspections of several key projects, underscoring the state government’s commitment to sustainable development.

Among the projects visited were the European Business Park and the Austrian Eco-Social Market Economy Programme at Godfrey Okoye University, which train young entrepreneurs with globally competitive skills. The delegation also toured NG-Cares Basic Services Projects, including water schemes at Enugu-Ngwo, Amagu Akaegbe Ugwu, and Obeagu-Uno, as well as the 9th Mile waterworks, completed within just 180 days of the current administration taking office.

Senator Bagudu commended the state for its prudent utilisation of NG-Cares funds, recognising Enugu as one of the top-performing states in the programme. Austrian Ambassador Schlesinger lauded the administration’s dedication to entrepreneurship, describing Enugu as a prime destination for investment and innovation.

The state’s development model focuses on grassroots initiatives, sustainability, and inclusivity. Key ongoing projects include the construction of 260 Smart Green Schools to prepare students for the future, 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres to provide round-the-clock healthcare, and 260 farm estates aimed at transforming agriculture and creating wealth.

Governor Peter Mbah reiterated the government’s commitment to creating opportunities, eradicating poverty, and improving living standards for all residents. He highlighted Enugu’s readiness to attract high-skill investments in diverse sectors, positioning the state as a gateway to shared prosperity.

“Tomorrow is here,” the governor declared, reinforcing Enugu’s vision of a future-driven, sustainable development agenda.
