Abuja — Political analyst, Mr. Fanimo, has praised the swift political rise of Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), describing his journey as a remarkable example of determination and grassroots mobilization in Nigeria’s political history.
Speaking during a live discussion on VOP TV, Fanimo questioned how Obi was able to secure the Labour Party’s ticket and build a national movement strong enough to challenge the dominance of the ruling party — all within a matter of months.

“How long did it take Peter Obi to take the Labour Party ticket and fight to the extent that he almost upset the ruling party?” Fanimo asked.
He said Obi’s campaign proved that credibility, consistency, and public trust can rapidly transform into political momentum when citizens are disillusioned with traditional parties.
“Obi’s rise showed Nigerians that politics isn’t only about structure — it’s about connecting with the people. His message resonated with millions who were desperate for change,” he added.
Fanimo noted that despite limited time, resources, and political machinery, Obi’s campaign managed to reshape voter expectations and inspire a new wave of political consciousness among the youth.

According to him, the 2023 election demonstrated that a candidate’s integrity and message could challenge entrenched power structures, even without the backing of the usual political elite.
“That momentum may define future elections,” Fanimo said. “Nigerians have seen what’s possible when passion meets purpose.”
Analysts say Obi’s performance has permanently altered Nigeria’s political landscape, proving that public trust and participation can rival money and influence in determining electoral outcomes.
