Musa Pledges to Revive Kano Pillars FC and Restore Former Glory

Super Eagles captain and newly appointed General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, Ahmed Musa, has pledged to restore the club’s lost glory and reposition it as one of Africa’s premier football institutions.

This commitment was made during a familiarisation meeting on Monday with the club’s Chairman, Alhaji Ali Umar, and other board members. The pledge was formally conveyed in a statement issued by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate on Tuesday in Kano.

Musa, a former forward for Leicester City and CSKA Moscow, expressed readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders to transform the fortunes of the club. He emphasized that Kano Pillars, once a dominant force in Nigerian football, must now embrace strategic planning and unity to overcome its recent challenges.

“Kano Pillars is our club and one of the most successful in Nigeria, but in recent years, the story has changed,” Musa said. “With your support and the backing of the board members, I will do everything possible to reposition the club and make it one of the finest not only in Africa but globally.”

Drawing from his experience playing in Europe and his previous stint with Pillars, Musa affirmed his commitment to bringing professionalism and renewed purpose to the team. He noted that sustainable success would depend on collective efforts from management, players, fans, and other key partners.

“This is not a one-man task. It requires unity of purpose, professionalism, and unwavering commitment across all levels,” he added.

Musa’s appointment was recently approved by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf as part of a broader plan to revamp the state-owned professional football club and align its operations with international best practices.

Kano Pillars, a four-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champion, is aiming to usher in a new era of excellence under Musa’s leadership.
