NABTEB announces 2025 results, notes better performance in Mathematics

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of the 2025 June/July National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations, showing significant improvements in candidates’ performance, particularly in Mathematics.

Announcing the results in Abuja on Thursday, the Registrar/Chief Executive, Dr. Mohammed Mohammed, said 92,875 candidates registered for the examinations across 1,892 centres nationwide, representing a 37.08 per cent increase in enrolment and a 10.77 per cent rise in examination centres compared to 2024.

According to him, 89,621 results were graded, accounting for 96.5 per cent of total enrolments. Of the candidates, 57,651 (62.07 per cent) were male while 35,224 (37.93 per cent) were female.

In English Language, 85,476 candidates were graded, with 79,575 (93.10 per cent) passing and 5,901 (6.90 per cent) failing. This marks a slight decline compared to 2024, when 95.87 per cent passed.

However, Mathematics recorded stronger results. Of 85,805 candidates graded, 81,172 (94.60 per cent) passed, while 4,633 (5.40 per cent) failed. This reflects an improvement over 2024, when 91.39 per cent passed and 8.61 per cent failed.

On examination malpractice, Mohammed reported 516 cases involving 435 candidates (0.47 per cent), a reduction from 524 cases involving 349 candidates (0.52 per cent) in 2024.

He commended the Federal Ministry of Education for supporting the board’s efforts to advance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of equipping Nigerian youths with 21st-century skills.

Mohammed also urged Nigerians to place greater value on skills rather than paper qualifications, stressing that practical knowledge remains critical for national development.

He further announced that registration for the 2025 November/December NBC/NTC and Advanced NBC/NTC examinations has commenced, advising prospective candidates to visit the NABTEB portal at novdec.nabteb.gov.ng or the board’s offices nationwide for guidelines.
