Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Denies Apologizing to Senate, Accuses Opponents of Spreading Lies to Silence Her

Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has fired back at reports claiming she apologized to the Senate over the controversy that led to her suspension, labeling the claims as “false and misleading.”

In a strongly worded statement on Monday, the Kogi Central senator insisted she stands by her actions and has not retracted any of her statements, despite mounting pressure.

“The reports suggesting that I have apologized to the Senate and retracted my position are completely untrue. I stand firmly by my words and actions and have not issued any apology to the Senate or anyone regarding this matter,” she declared.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was suspended following a heated clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements, alleged that there is an orchestrated effort to manipulate public perception and discredit her.

Her battle with the Senate leadership escalated after she accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, a claim that has since gained international attention, with the United Nations Inter-Parliamentary Union reportedly looking into the matter.

“This is not just about me; it is about the integrity of our democracy. I will not be intimidated or forced into submission through false narratives,” she said, suggesting that her suspension and the subsequent recall effort against her are politically motivated.

The senator urged the public to ignore misinformation and vowed to continue her fight for justice.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed it received a petition to initiate her recall process, further fueling speculation that powerful forces are working to remove her from the Senate permanently.

As the battle between Akpoti-Uduaghan and the Senate leadership intensifies, the controversy surrounding her suspension continues to shake the National Assembly, with questions arising about whether she is being silenced for challenging the establishment.
