The Rivers State Government has dismissed media reports claiming that the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas (rtd.), summoned the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Special Duties Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Dede Sampson, the government described the report as a malicious fabrication aimed at misleading the public, inciting panic, and disrupting the peace in the state.
The statement emphasized that any story not originating from an official government source should be considered fake news and ignored.
Residents were urged to disregard similar misinformation, which the government said was being spread by individuals seeking to destabilize the state.
The statement also reiterated that all official communications from the Rivers State Government are disseminated onlythrough verified channels—namely, the Official Rivers State Government Website, authorized government social media platforms, and press releases issued by the Office of the Governor and the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
