In his reaction, the former president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State, Chief Oliver Akubueze, said that it is very shameful that Gowon would still be telling lies at his age.

According to him, the whole information about what transpired during the three years of massacre of the Igbos is in public domain so there is nothing again to hide.

He said that the real truth is that the former head of state has little education and as such did not understand the content of the agreement that he signed.

Also reacting, the Executive Director of Civil Liberty Organization(CLO), Comrade Ibuchukwu Ezike said that Gowon should asking God for forgiveness instead of making a mockery of himself.

According to him, at almost hundred years of age, former head of state should be more concerned of how posterity would remember him than anything else.

He said that saying that he had fever and mistakenly signed the Aburi Accord which later led to the death of millions of people does not speak well of somebody who calls himself a general in the Army.
