The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dismissed claims that its local government chairmen in Katsina State have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released on Monday, the NNPP State Chairman, Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir, refuted reports circulating in some media outlets and on social media suggesting that 34 NNPP local government chairmen had joined the ADC.
“Our attention has been drawn to some publications alleging that 34 of our LG chairmen have defected to the ADC through former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa,” Abdulkadir said.
He clarified that none of the NNPP chairmen across Katsina’s 34 local government areas had defected to the ADC or any other party.
“It is on record that some of our chairmen left the NNPP for the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the 2023 presidential elections,” he noted. “The individuals now claimed to have joined the ADC were already with the APC, not the NNPP. Therefore, their defection is from the APC, not from our party.”
The NNPP urged the public and media outlets to verify such claims before dissemination to avoid misinformation.
