Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has claimed that what he described as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “tribal inclination” played a role in his removal from Nigeria’s wanted list.
Igboho made the claim during a public appearance with supporters, where he alleged that political changes following Tinubu’s emergence as president influenced how his case was handled by Nigerian authorities.
According to him, he was officially removed from the wanted list after years of being declared wanted by security agencies over his involvement in Yoruba self-determination activities.
“I was removed from the wanted list. Tinubu’s tribalism helped me,” Igboho was quoted as saying, without providing further details on any formal communication from the government.
Igboho had been declared wanted in 2021 and later arrested in the Republic of Benin, where he faced extradition proceedings before being released.
The Federal Government has not officially reacted to Igboho’s claims, and there has been no public statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding his alleged delisting.
The comments have since sparked mixed reactions, with critics questioning the implication of ethnic favoritism, while supporters argue that the development reflects changing political dynamics under the current administration.
