The All Progressives Congress in Enugu State has denied reports of internal crisis and mass resignations, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The party’s position was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by its State Publicity Secretary, Uche Obute, who dismissed allegations of unrest and non-payment of delegates’ stipends.
Mr Obute described the reports as “concocted stories” aimed at distracting the party from its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
He maintained that there was no agitation among delegates who attended the party’s recent national convention.
Unity claims
Addressing reports of member defections over alleged marginalisation, the APC insisted that its structure in Enugu remains intact and inclusive.
The party credited the leadership of Governor Peter Mbah with strengthening its presence in the state.
According to the statement, Enugu has become an APC stronghold, with elected officials across various levels aligned with the party.
Inclusive structure
The party further stated that both old and new members are adequately represented in its leadership structure.
It cited key figures such as Oby Ajih and Ben Nwoye as examples of inclusivity within the system.
“The Governor is widely known for his inclusive leadership style, carrying along both members of the old APC bloc and new entrants,” the statement noted.
Reaffirming its unity under state chairman Martin Chukwunweike, the party urged members and the public to ignore the reports of crisis.
It expressed confidence that alleged misinformation would not affect its growth or electoral ambitions.
