Legal analyst and political commentator, Barrister Darlington, has observed that since President Muhammadu Buharileft office, his name has scarcely been mentioned in ongoing corruption investigations or scandals.
Speaking during a recent interview on national governance and accountability, Barr. Darlington highlighted that while Buhari’s administration was often associated with anti-corruption campaigns, recent developments suggest that public discourse has shifted away from his personal involvement.
According to him, “It is noteworthy that since Buhari left office, nobody seems to be naming him in connection with corruption cases. This raises questions about whether the anti-corruption rhetoric during his tenure was politically selective or genuinely comprehensive.”

He added that the shift may reflect changes in political focus under the new administration, as well as the evolving nature of corruption investigations in the country. Barr. Darlington urged current leaders and anti-corruption agencies to maintain consistency and impartiality in pursuing all cases, irrespective of political affiliations.
“The fight against corruption must be fair, transparent, and devoid of bias. No leader should be untouchable, but nor should allegations be politicized,” he emphasized.
Barr. Darlington’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about the effectiveness and legacy of anti-corruption policies under previous governments and the need for reforms to strengthen institutional accountability in Nigeria.
