NSCDC Charges 137 Graduating Officers to Uphold Professionalism/Vop

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has called on 137 newly graduated officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and discipline in their security duties.

Dr. Odumosu made this statement on Tuesday during the Passing Out Parade for Batch B Basic Arms Training at the FCT Command Headquarters in Abuja. Addressing the officers, he emphasized the importance of adhering to rules of engagement and maintaining vigilance, discipline, and focus while safeguarding lives, property, and critical infrastructure in the FCT.

“As you are deployed to your respective assignments, do not forget your training and orientation. Always give your best, work smart, and think smart at all times,” he said. He further urged the officers to handle their duties responsibly, adding, “Protect yourself, your rifles, and the lives and property of others.”

The Commandant reminded the officers that their rigorous training had equipped them to tackle security challenges with competence and resolve. He also highlighted their role in combating vandalism, illegal mining, theft of public infrastructure, and other crimes within the FCT, stating, “To whom much is given, much is expected.”

Dr. Odumosu commended the instructors for their dedication in preparing the officers, praising their efforts in sharpening the recruits’ skills and instilling the values necessary for the job. He also expressed gratitude to the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, and the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for their leadership and support in enhancing the Command’s capacity.

The Commandant assured the public of the Corps’ unwavering commitment to its mandate of protecting lives and critical infrastructure, promising continued efforts to ensure safety and security across the FCT.

This cohort of 137 officers is part of the Command’s broader initiative to strengthen its operational capabilities. Since October 2024, a total of 272 personnel have been retrained under the Batch A and B programmes.
