The Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 4,500 personnel to ensure adequate security during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
Announcing the deployment in Abuja, the FCT NSCDC Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, directed officers to secure all areas within the FCT to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration. According to him, this is aimed at safeguarding lives and protecting critical national assets and infrastructure before, during and after the festivities.

He disclosed that the officers were drawn from various specialised units of the corps, including the Female Strike Force, Arms Squad and Operation Adkasu. Others, he said, included the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure unit, as well as the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives unit.
Odumosu instructed that special attention be paid to soft targets and vulnerable locations, including shopping malls, recreational centres, prayer grounds, markets, motor parks and amusement parks.
