The Factional Chairman of the Labour Party, Bashir Apapa, has declared the Asaba National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party as illegal, stating that its presidential candidate, Peter Obi not qualified to rule the country.
It further said the presence of the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has exposed him as disobedient to the Federal High Court Order in Abuja, which sustained the restraining order on the National Chairman of the Labour Party and three others from parading themselves as officials of the Party.
The Apapa faction of the Party leadership said it had access to a letter of invitation to the Asaba NEC meeting of the Labour Party signed by the embattled Chairman of the Party, Comrade Julius Abure and said he has no such powers given the restraining order of the court.
You will recall that the labour party has been going through an internal upheaval, which has raised questions on how well structured the party is, lets take a listen to a press conference organised five days ago where the factions within the party expressed their views on the upturning in the party.
Apapa and five others, on April 6, 2023, took over the affairs of the party following the ruling of a Federal High Court which restrained Julius Abure from parading himself as the chairman of the party.
