Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has stirred reactions with her response to a public apology from suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Akpoti-Uduaghan had apologized for the insults Ezekwesili endured from Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi while defending her during a heated exchange on March 25. However, rather than dwell on the apology, Ezekwesili dismissed the attacks as inconsequential compared to the larger struggle for justice and gender equality.
In a defiant response on X, Ezekwesili declared that “a torrent of insults from any source is but a little price to pay” in the fight for a better Nigeria. She insisted that Nigerian women should not inherit battles that should have already been won and condemned a system that seeks to silence women and the vulnerable.
Her statement has sparked debate, with some praising her resilience while others question whether verbal attacks should ever be normalized in political discourse.
