The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has reacted to how the Federal High Court rejected the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu’s fresh request for bail.
The court denied Kanu’s bail application on Tuesday when he appeared before Justice Binta Nyako in Abuja.
Justice Nyako rather ordered an accelerated hearing of the Federal Government’s seven-count charge against the IPOB leader who has been in the custody of the Department of States Services since 29th June 2021.
However, Kanu’s case was adjourned till April 17, 2024.
Reacting to the development in a statement signed by President-General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the group urged Nigerian youths to be patient.
Ohanaeze said Kanu’s followers should not engage in violence, saying the IPOB leader does not support arson or bloodshed.
