The Anambra Central People’s Forum (ACPF), a Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization advocating for the revival and preservation of the Igbo language, has extended its congratulations to Senator John Azuta Mbata on his election as President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. The forum also celebrated the appointments of Engr. Emeka Sibeudu (Secretary-General) and Chief Omeife Jideofor (Vice-President General) as part of the new leadership.

In a statement issued in Awka on Friday, signed by Achebe Chris, Esq. (Chairman), Chief Uchechukwu Okeke (Director, Publicity and Advocacy), and Prof. (Engr.) Philip Nwabueze Atanmo (Isimmili Ogidi), the forum charged the new leadership with protecting and advancing Igbo cultural heritage while strategically addressing key issues affecting the region.

Pan-Igbo Forum Backs New Ohanaeze Leadership

The statement described the election of Senator Mbata as a collective victory for the Igbo people, expressing confidence in his ability to foster unity, elite cohesion, and national consensus on critical regional and national matters.

“We congratulate the newly elected National Executive Committee of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, believing that with their vast experience, they will significantly enhance the representation and advocacy for the Igbo nation, which faces existential challenges in contemporary Nigeria,” the statement read.

Prof. Atanmo, a former Anambra State President and Assistant National Vice-President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, lauded Senator Mbata as a seasoned leader whose political acumen will strengthen the organization’s role in promoting Igbo interests.

“At this critical point in Nigeria’s political history, leaders like Senator Mbata are essential to reviving and sustaining our national vision,” Atanmo noted. “His dedication to Igbo culture and heritage is unquestionable, and we trust he will guide Ohanaeze with wisdom and foresight.”

Igwe Iweka Appointed Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council

The Anambra Central People’s Forum also congratulated His Majesty, Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Eze Iweka III of Obosi Ukwalla Kingdom), on his appointment as Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council (ASTRC).

In another statement, signed by Achebe Chris, Esq., Chief Uchechukwu Okeke, and Prof. Atanmo, the forum pledged full support for Igwe Iweka’s leadership, expressing hope for a progressive and modern approach to traditional governance.

“We share in the collective joy of Anambra State as Igwe Iweka assumes this esteemed position, following in the footsteps of his distinguished predecessor, HRM Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe (Obi of Onitsha),” the statement read. “We are confident that his tenure will strengthen the traditional institution and further the advancement of Igbo heritage.”

Prof. Atanmo also offered prayers for God’s guidance, protection, and wisdom upon the new chairman, wishing him a reign marked by vision, strength, and enduring legacy.

“May your leadership be a shining example for generations to come,” he said. “We stand with you as we work together to preserve our Igbo language and cultural traditions.”

The appointment of Senator Mbata and Igwe Iweka has been widely welcomed by stakeholders, who see their leadership as crucial to the continued development and unity of the Igbo people.
