Oko Poly Rector Awuzie Unveils Agenda, Bans Ostentatious Exam Celebrations/ Vop

The newly inaugurated Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Chioma Awuzie, has pledged to uphold discipline, academic excellence, and efficient management of resources in the institution.

Speaking during her inauguration at the Convocation Arena, Dr. Awuzie outlined a 12 point agenda aimed at transforming the polytechnic into a hub of technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and global competitiveness. She emphasized the importance of collaboration, teamwork, and adherence to due process in all institutional affairs.

Key areas of focus in her agenda include human resource development, academic reinvention, staff and student welfare, discipline, and infrastructural advancement. She also reaffirmed her commitment to the institution’s founding vision, stressing that progress would require unity of purpose and the collective support of stakeholders.

Dr. Awuzie also addressed the growing trend of ostentatious celebrations on campus, particularly during final exams and graduation ceremonies. She announced a ban on cash spraying, extravagant displays of wealth, and excessive vehicle parades within the institution.

“While students are free to celebrate their achievements in an orderly manner, public throwing of cash, money bouquets, and similar displays will no longer be allowed,” she stated. She further revealed plans to establish a committee to regulate the public display of wealth and vehicles on campus.

Dr. Awuzie, the first female rector to be appointed from within the institution and the second woman to hold the position, was inaugurated in the presence of past and present leaders of the polytechnic, traditional rulers, religious leaders, politicians, industry captains, students, and other dignitaries.
