Ondo Governor, Akeredolu Dies After Prolonged Illness

The tragic passing of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu is unexpected.

Sources close to the family disclosed the governor died today at the age of 67.

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state said arrangements were being concluded to swear in his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The state government is yet to speak on the matter.

You will recall that the ailing governor returned to Nigeria in September following a three-month medical leave in Germany.

Recently, he went on another medical leave after being directed by President Bola Tinubu to hand over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The governor had handed over power to his deputy on December 13, for him to travel to Germany for treatment after his health reportedly worsened.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, and four children.
