Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has declared that he is willing to honour a one-term agreement if it becomes part of a broader, issue-driven opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a recent conference in Abuja, Obi stressed that any alliance must be based on shared national values, not mere desperation to grab power. He clarified that he’s not against coalitions—but only supports those focused on tackling Nigeria’s core challenges, such as poverty, insecurity, poor healthcare, and weak education system.“
I’m open to coalition talks, but not for the sake of political power. It must be about securing the future of Nigerians,” Obi stated.
