The Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Mr. Shedrack Azubuike, has launched a skills development initiative aimed at equipping youths with practical and income-generating skills.
Speaking at a one-day interactive session with the youths at the council secretariat in Umunze, Mr. Azubuike highlighted the various programs under the initiative, including programming and development, digital literacy, cybersecurity, vocational training, and solar installation. According to him, the initiative is designed to foster entrepreneurship and innovation within the local government.
As part of the empowerment efforts, the chairman presented a financial grant of one million naira to Mr. Nnaemeka Okoliofor, a former member of the Orumba South Local Government Strike Force. He emphasized that the program aligns with his vision of positioning Orumba South as a hub for skill acquisition and economic development.
The National President of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions Youth Wing, Mr. Ken Okoli, praised the initiative, describing it as a transformative step toward creating sustainable opportunities for young people in the area.
Meanwhile, some youths in attendance, including Mr. Dozie Onyekachukwu and Mr. Timothy Nwafor, contributed ideas on how to further improve the local government and the state at large.
The initiative is expected to provide young people with the necessary tools to become self-reliant and contribute to the economic growth of Orumba South.
