OTACCWA President Appointed to World Agriculture Forum Council

The President of the Organisation for Technology Advancement of Cold Chain in West Africa (OTACCWA), Mr. Alex Isong, has been appointed to the prestigious World Agriculture Forum (WAF) Council.

The announcement was made on Wednesday in Lagos through a statement issued by OTACCWA to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Established to promote the development of cold chain infrastructure in Nigeria and the West African region, OTACCWA plays a vital role in reducing post-harvest losses and advancing agricultural sustainability. Isong’s appointment to the WAF Council is seen as a recognition of his leadership and unwavering commitment to tackling post-harvest losses through innovative cold-chain solutions.

The World Agriculture Forum, headquartered in the Netherlands, is an influential global platform modeled after the World Economic Forum. It convenes world leaders, policymakers, CEOs, global experts, and development institutions to address critical issues around food security, sustainable agriculture, agri-tech innovation, trade, and policy development.

“We are proud to announce that Mr. Alexander Isong, President of OTACCWA, has been officially appointed to the World Agriculture Forum Council,” the statement read.

According to the organization, Isong’s inclusion on the Council will provide a valuable opportunity for Africa’s perspectives to be more prominently represented in global agricultural policy discussions. His work in strengthening cold chain systems across West Africa has been instrumental in reducing food spoilage and improving agricultural efficiency.

“As a Council Member, he will contribute to shaping the Forum’s agenda, promoting international cooperation, and championing strategic investments toward building a more sustainable and resilient agricultural future for all,” the statement added.

Isong is expected to use his new role to further advocate for cold-chain advancement and align West Africa’s agricultural priorities with global best practices and innovations.
