Otti and Eno Join Forces to Revamp Abia-Akwa Ibom Link Roads!

The governments of Abia and Akwa Ibom States have officially partnered to enhance road infrastructure, aiming to improve accessibility between the two neighboring states. This agreement was reached during a condolence visit by Abia State Governor Alex Otti to his Akwa Ibom counterpart, Umo Eno, at the Government House in Uyo over the weekend. The visit was in remembrance of the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom, Patience Eno.

During the visit, Governor Otti extended heartfelt condolences from the people of Abia State to Governor Eno and his family, describing the loss of the First Lady as a significant tragedy for both the state and the nation. He praised her impactful life and encouraged Governor Eno to persist with his community-focused projects.

“We will work collaboratively to fix the roads linking our states for the socioeconomic interest of our citizens,” Otti stated.

In response, Governor Eno expressed gratitude for the support and condolences received during this challenging time, acknowledging that such kindness has been a source of strength for him and his family. He reflected on the legacy left by the late First Lady, emphasizing the significant impact she made during her life. To ensure the continuation of her vision, he announced the appointment of their daughter, Helen Obareki, to coordinate activities in the First Lady’s office.

Governor Eno shared his deep personal loss, highlighting the 40-year partnership he shared with his late wife, who played a vital role in their ministry and community initiatives. He also committed to collaborating with Abia State to expedite federal government intervention on the Ikot Ekpene-Aba road, address issues on the Ini-Arochukwu road, and explore other road improvement projects beneficial to citizens of both states.

“For the roads we’ve discussed, if there are others we can work on together, we are prepared to do that. Our people deserve smooth passage to and from Aba, which remains a key commercial hub for us all,” Eno affirmed.
