The poultry farming industry in Afghanistan has seen steady growth, with over 100,000 people now directly employed in the sector, an official announced on Monday.
According to a report by local news outlet TOLOnews, Mawlawi Sadr Azam Osmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, stated that more than 360,000 others are also indirectly involved in poultry-related activities.
The number of poultry farms in the country has surged from 3,000 in recent years to 14,000, the report noted.
It also highlighted that Afghanistan is nearing self-sufficiency in poultry meat production, marking a significant milestone for the post-conflict nation.
The Afghan interim government, Osmani added, is committed to supporting efforts that promote self-reliance and development across all sectors.
