Parents of Children Found Dead in Freezer in Nnewi Insist on Foul Play, Demand Justice/Vop

The parents of the three children found dead inside a freezer in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, have insisted that their children were murdered. The grieving couple, Mr. Udochukwu and Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, are calling on the police to thoroughly investigate the tragedy and bring those responsible to justice.

The ABS News team visited the devastated parents, who are both nurses, at a relative’s home where they are temporarily staying. Their residence has been sealed off by the police as investigations continue.

A Mother’s Worst Nightmare

Recounting the heartbreaking incident, Mrs. Ejezie, a nurse and lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, said she had left her children at home alone while she went for an exam. This was a routine arrangement, as her husband works in Edo State.

On returning home, she noticed the doors were open, but the house was eerily quiet, with no sign of the children. Initially, she assumed they had gone to church for altar servers’ rehearsal ahead of Sunday service.

However, as the day wore on without their return, panic set in. She searched the church and surrounding areas, made frantic phone calls to her husband, relatives, and friends, but there was no trace of them.

A Chilling Discovery

Desperate, she returned home with her parish priest and enlisted the help of a neighbor, a medical student at NAUTH, to search the house again. It was during this second search that the medical student made the horrifying discovery—the three children were lifeless inside the freezer, which had been locked from the outside.

A confidential photograph of the children inside the freezer, seen by an ABS News reporter, showed that one of them had bloodstains on her body and was bleeding from the nose, raising further suspicion about the nature of their deaths.

When asked about their relationship with their neighbors, who are also medical students at NAUTH, the couple stated that they had always had a cordial relationship and had no reason to suspect them.

Ongoing Investigation

The police have since launched an investigation and assured the grieving parents that they are committed to uncovering the truth behind the tragedy.

The Ejezies are now left with only their eldest son, who is currently in a seminary school in Ukpor.
