The Kano State Police Command says it has recorded major successes in its ongoing fight against crime, with the arrest of 105 suspects linked to 30 high-profile cases and the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, announced this during a press briefing on Monday at the Bompai Police Headquarters in Kano.
He credited the breakthroughs to the command’s proactive, community-driven security strategies and the effectiveness of Operation Kukan Kura, which he said has been instrumental in reducing criminal activities and making the state safer.
According to Bakori, the 105 suspects include 17 armed robbery suspects, eight alleged drug dealers, nine motor vehicle thieves, five motorcycle thieves, nine general theft suspects, and 57 suspected thugs.
Recovered exhibits include:
Weapons: three AK-47 rifles, three English pistols, three revolver pistols, one locally made AK-47 rifle, one dane gun, two locally made pistols, seven live rounds of ammunition, and five spent shells.
Drugs: 603 packets of Tramadol tablets (60,300 pieces) worth ₦60.3 million, and six cartons of Pregabalin capsules (44,850 pieces) valued at ₦22.4 million.
The CP expressed appreciation to residents of Kano for their continuous support and cooperation, which he said played a key role in the command’s achievements.
He reiterated the police command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and preventing crime across the state.
Bakori further appealed to the public to sustain their partnership with the police by providing timely and credible information, assuring that such collaboration would help foster a more secure environment for all.
