ABUJA — The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its total supportand loyalty to the party’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagun, and the entire National Working Committee (NWC), while disowning any parallel leadership within the party.
The declaration followed a crucial meeting held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, attended by 29 state chairmen, during which the forum issued a communiqué describing Damagun as “the authentic National Chairman of the PDP.”
The state chairmen commended the judiciary, particularly Justice Akintola, for a judgment they described as “courageous and well-considered,” which has cleared the path for the party’s National Elective Convention, scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“The Forum applauds the courageous and well-considered judgment delivered by Hon. Justice Akintola, which has paved the way for the conduct of the forthcoming National Elective Convention,” the communiqué stated.

The forum urged all delegates recognized under the PDP Constitution to prepare for the convention and elect credible and loyal members into the National Working Committee.
It also emphasized party discipline, urging state chapters to enforce relevant provisions of the constitution against members whose actions undermine unity, cohesion, and the party’s collective interest.
“The Forum emphasizes the critical importance of discipline within the Party and calls on all State Chapters not to hesitate in invoking the relevant provisions of the Party Constitution to discipline erring members,” the communiqué read.
The state chairmen commended the synergy between PDP national organs, including:
The National Working Committee under Ambassador Umar Damagun
The PDP Governors’ Forum under Senator Bala Mohammed
The Board of Trustees (BOT) under Senator Adolphus Wabara
They noted that this collaboration has stabilized and repositioned the party, contributing to stronger internal democracy.
The forum also dissociated itself from the Abdurahman-led faction, insisting that Ambassador Umar Damagunremains the sole legitimate National Chairman of the PDP. Any attempt to create a parallel leadership was described as a move to destabilize the party.
“The forum dissociates itself from the purported Abdurahman leadership loyal to FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, and wants to categorically state that the PDP has only one National Chairman, Umar Damagun,” the communiqué stressed.
The presence of PDP chairmen from the North Central zone at the meeting further underscored their collective solidarity with the party’s national organs.
The forum reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the unity, progress, and electoral success of the PDP and pledged to continue working closely with the national leadership to strengthen internal democracy and rebuild public confidence in the party.
The communiqué was jointly signed by Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State Chairman and Chairman of the Forum of PDP State Chairmen, and Edward Mashal, Kaduna State Chairman and Secretary of the Forum.
