Contrary to reports of being restricted, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has consistently shown support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue State. Notably, on December 25, 2022, he spent Christmas at the Abagana IDP camp in Makurdi, where he donated N3 million and called on the federal government to urgently resettle the displaced back in their ancestral homes.
Obi has remained vocal about the plight of IDPs, stating that no Nigerian should be living in such camps within their own country. While he has not publicly claimed to have been barred from visiting any camp, his actions demonstrate a continued commitment to engaging with and supporting displaced communities.
