PGF Denies One-Party State Claims, Applauds Tinubu’s Ongoing Reforms

The Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) has dismissed claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is steering Nigeria toward a one-party state, describing the allegations as unfounded. The forum said the ruling party’s growing influence reflects increasing public confidence in its leadership and performance.

Chairman of the forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, made the remarks while briefing journalists after a meeting of APC governors in Abuja. He said the rising number of governors and political leaders aligning with the party was driven by satisfaction with its governance rather than any attempt to weaken opposition parties.

Uzodimma noted that the APC now has more than 28 governors nationwide, including the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, whom he described as a new member of the forum. According to him, the development underscores confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the party’s vision for national development.

The PGF chairman commended the Tinubu administration’s reform agenda, saying it was already yielding positive results. He cited initiatives such as the student loan scheme, the expansion of the national health insurance programme, improved government revenue, and increased oil and gas production as indicators of economic recovery.

He urged Nigerians and the political class to prioritise peace and cooperation, stressing that sustained collaboration was essential to building a stronger nation. Uzodimma expressed optimism that the ongoing reforms were laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth and national prosperity.
