The Osun State Police Command has detained eight suspects in connection with the alleged mutilation of a 16-year-old boy’s scrotum in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi said in a statement on Monday in Osogbo that the incident occurred on July 26 around 4 p.m. when three suspects from Apomu visited the Arademi area of Ikire to work on a farm.’
According to Ojelabi, after clearing the grass, two of the suspects lured the victim to a remote bush, cut open his abdomen in an attempt to harvest vital organs, and removed his scrotum. The suspects fled when the boy raised the alarm.
Police officers responded promptly, taking the victim to a hospital before referring him to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, for further treatment.
Investigations led to the arrest of eight suspects linked to the case. Ojelabi added that police also apprehended two alleged cult members from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, a robbery suspect who stole an iPhone 11 in Osogbo, another man found with a cut-to-size gun in Ede, and a suspect who stole a motorcycle from a mosque.
He said all suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
