Police Arrest Abuja Resident for Allegedly Supplying Ammo to Bandits

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as Ahmed Abubakar, for allegedly serving as an ammunition supplier to bandit groups operating in Zamfara State.

In a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspect—who resides in the Anguwan Dodo area of Gwagwalada—was arrested on December 7, 2025, at about 3:30 p.m. The arrest followed what the police described as “credible and actionable intelligence” shared with the Command’s Tactical Team.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations uncovered that Abubakar had been communicating with an associate, one Yusuf Mohammed, regarding arrangements to purchase 1,000 rounds of ammunition intended for criminal groups in Zamfara. Further findings reportedly linked the suspect’s activities to his uncle, identified as Ahmed Yakubu, who is believed to be a major facilitator within the network and is currently on the run.

“The suspect is currently in police custody as further investigative efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing accomplice and dismantle the criminal network involved,” the police spokesperson said.
