The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in coordinated operations targeting armed robbery, drug trafficking, cattle rustling, and phone theft across the state. The arrests followed simultaneous raids by police operatives in several local government areas, leading to the seizure of 7,028 illicit drugs and the recovery of stolen property.
In a statement issued Monday in Dutse, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, said seven of the suspects were arrested for alleged drug dealing and consumption. Items recovered included rubber solutions, substances known as “suck and die,” and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. The suspects were picked up from various locations in Hadejia, Sule Tankarkar, and Ringim LGAs during intelligence-led operations.
Adam said operatives from the ‘B’ Division in Hadejia also recovered a white Jincheng motorcycle earlier reported stolen from a residence in Rinde Quarters. The motorcycle has since been returned to its owner on bond, while efforts are ongoing to arrest those linked to the theft. In a separate operation, police from Malam-Madori Division recovered two cows suspected to have been rustled at the outskirts of Dunari Quarters after the suspects fled into nearby bushes.
The command also confirmed the arrest of Shu’aibu Musa, a wanted armed robbery suspect, in connection with a camel theft. A stolen camel was recovered from him, and he has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation and prosecution. Police said efforts are underway to identify the rightful owners of the recovered livestock and dismantle cattle rustling networks in the area.
Meanwhile, in Sundimina town, police arrested a suspected phone thief, Abdullahi Isyaku, 20, and an alleged receiver of stolen phones, Nasir Saleh, 30. The suspects were accused of stealing mobile phones and cash valued at ₦81,000 and selling the phones for ₦61,000. SP Adam said the suspects have been arraigned in court, urging residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to curb crime across Jigawa State.
